Faux Wood Blinds

Poly Blind or Faux Wood blinds are always a staple in the window treatment industry with their classic elegance and simplicity. The 2 & 2 ½ Poly Blinds are made from extruded polymer with a UV protectant to ensure a lifetime of use without worrying about discoloration.

Faux Wood blinds are one of the most economical options when considering high-quality window treatments. Polymer blinds generally are a non-painted product, therefore they never need to be re-painted. We can help you find the right blinds to match any stain of the floor or furniture.

Wood Blinds

There is no question that real wood blinds add a great deal of warmth and beauty to any room. Nearly all the wood blinds in this country are made out of basswood which is a type of wood that is native to the United States. Basswood ages beautifully and doesn’t warp.

It may seem counterintuitive, but wood blinds are about half the weight of faux wood blinds. With less weight, there is less need for hardware supporting the slats. Wood blinds tend to hold their shape well over time and resist sagging.

Wood Blinds Vs Wood Blinds: Which One Is Best?

We frequently get asked which blinds are better: faux wood or wood blinds. Of course, the answer depends on a few things such as:

  • The size of the windows
  • Your budget
  • Which room you’re placing the window treatments

Clearly, either option will help transform the look and feel of the room, but you definitely need to understand a few things about each type of blind before making a decision.

First, understand that faux wood blinds are made out of a composite PVC. These blinds can come in a rainbow of colors and can be given a faux stain with a realistic image of the wood grain. From an aesthetic perspective, it can be difficult to tell the difference between faux wood blinds and wood blinds.

Clearly, wood blinds are made out of actual wood. Because of this, wood blinds are more vulnerable to humidity and exposure to water. Therefore, we don’t recommend the use of wood blinds in bathrooms or kitchens. Wood blinds are also a better option for larger windows.

Depending upon your budget, wood blinds are the more expensive option. They can cost a few hundred dollars more than faux wood blinds, but many people feel the price difference is worth it.

Mini Blinds

Mini blinds are simply blinds that use fewer slats that are half the width of standard blinds. The slats are typically around one-inch width. Otherwise, mini blinds work like other types of blinds to control light.

If you’re looking for window treatments that are affordable, mini blinds are a great option. They are very popular for businesses because they are lightweight and easy to clean. Like most window treatments, they come in a wide variety of colors and can add to the décor of any room.
